NIC ROUNDUP: Cardinal volleyball team finishes 0-2 on SWAC trip

TAYLORSVILLE, Utah - Kallie Schmit had 18 kills and 10 digs to lead the seventh-ranked Salt Lake Bruins past the North Idaho College Cardinals 25-15, 25-15, 26-28, 25-12 in a Scenic West Athletic Conference match on Saturday at Bruin Arena.

Brittany Aldridge had nine kills and 10 digs, Brenna Meehan seven kills and six digs, Dzeni Hadzisehovic seven kills and eight digs and Maddi Seidl 26 assists for NIC (8-6, 2-2 SWAC), which hosts third-ranked Southern Idaho next Saturday at Christianson Gym.

NIC lost at 10th-ranked Snow on Friday night.

Carol Grasso had 17 kills and seven digs and Rachel Davis 46 assists for Salt Lake (14-6, 2-1), which travels to Utah State-Eastern on Friday.

COEUR d'ALENE - Adam Talley recorded a hat trick, his third goal tying the game in the 89th minute of the Cardinals' nonleague draw with the Eagles at Eisenwinter Field.

Former Lake City High standout Alec Johnson scored two goals for NIC (10-0-2), which faces the Community Colleges of Spokane on Wednesday at Spokane Falls.

"Alec got the ball from 35 yards out, hit it, and it was an absolute cannon," NIC coach Ken Thompson said. "It hit the bottom of the crossbar and back through the net, and it still shot out. It was just an incredible goal."

Peiman Pahezan and Bryant Maxey had two goals each for Trinity Lutheran (1-6-2), an NAIA Christian school from Everett, Wash.
