SANDPOINT — Bringing literature to life can be a challenge for any high school classroom.

That’s why Lake Pend Oreille High School staff appreciate the extra help from Panhandle Alliance For Education. The educational organization has contributed resources to get student excited about literature, this year providing $2,500 to teacher Sandy Lange for two days workshops, classroom instruction and professional development. Canadian author Sigmund Brouwer, marking his fourth visit to the high school, arrived for two days of work with teachers and students Wednesday and Thursday.

“These students are amazing,” Brouwer said. “They always treat me like a friend.”
