Glacier still top of AA; Bigfork remains No. 10 in B
The Daily Inter Lake | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 10 years, 3 months AGO
Glacier still holds the top spot in Class AA in the most recent Associated Press prep football polls released on Wednesday. The Wolfpack was one of four teams to hold its top spot in the polls, with the only shakeup coming in the tumultuous Class A.
Glacier received all but one first place vote in the poll, and was picked second in the other ballot. The Wolfpack has scored more point than any team in the state and is coming off a decisive 49-13 victory over then-No. 5 Missoula Big Sky.
Helena, which beat Flathead 42-6 on Friday in Kalispell, earned the only other top vote in holding its second ranking. Great Falls C.M. Russell remained third and Billings Skyview fourth as Billings Senior, the top team receiving votes last week, entered the polls for the first time this season at No. 5.
Class A, which has seen its top-ranked team lose each of the three weeks the poll has been released this season, finds Belgrade atop the rankings this week. The Panthers, who have six first-place votes this week, have head-to-head wins against current No. 2 Butte Central, which picked up four first-place votes, and No. 3 Miles City, which received one top vote. Butte Central defeated former-No. 1 Dillon this week and Miles City topped last week’s No. 1 Laurel.
Laurel fell three spots to No. 4 in this week’s poll and Dillon two spots to No. 5. Billings Central, the only team to beat Belgrade this season, and Columbia Falls are the top two teams receiving votes.
Bigfork held its spot at No. 10 in Class B, which only saw minor shifts in its rankings. As the pack of undefeated and one-loss teams in the class gets whittled down, a unanimous top 12 has formed, led for the fourth straight week by Fairfield. Forsyth, which surrendered its first points of the season last week, comes in at second with Glasgow third, Huntley Project fourth and Townsend fifth.
Conrad, Whitehall, Choteau and Jefferson (Boulder) round out the top 10 with the Vikings.
Class C is still led by Wibaux in 8-man and Stanford-Geyser-Denton in 6-man. Hot Springs is No. 3 in 6-man with a perfect 4-0 record.
