Lady Hawks win at home gym

THOMPSON FALLS – The Thompson Falls Lady Hawk volleyball team rolled to a homecoming victory in their match against the Eureka Lady Lions over the weekend.
The Thompson Falls girls faced off in a varsity matchup against Eureka on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 6 p.m.
The Lady Hawks were able to take the match in 4 sets, winning the contest by a final score of three sets to one.
The sets were decided by scores of 25-16, 21-25, 25-19 and with a dominant performance in the final set of the evening Thompson Falls put away the match with a 25-12 win in the fourth and final set of the match.
Junior Shey Hannum was a big contributor for Thompson Falls earning 14 kills and two blocks on the way to the team’s big home win.
The younger members of the team played a critical part in the team’s victory over Eureka.
On the defensive side the Lady Hawks drew off of some sharp play from sophomore Logan Beckman and freshman Sierra Sorlie.
Beckman added 30 assists and 13 digs the team’s effort and Sorlie contributed 12 digs of her own to help ensure Thompson Falls never lost control of the team’s three winning sets.
From the serving line senior Madison Fitchett contributed to the team’s win striking two aces throughout the course of the match.
The homecoming win moves the Lady Hawks to a record of 5-4 on the season.
Of note, Thompson Falls remains undefeated in league play, sporting a spotless record of 4-0 within District 7-B.
The team combined for 41 kills, five blocks, 49 digs, 34 assists and five aces on the night.
Next up for the Lady Hawks will be an inner-county rivalry match against the Plains Trotters.
The teams will face off in Plains on Thursday, Oct. 9 at 7 p.m.
