Savage Heat burn Eagles

HOT SPRINGS – The Lady Savage Heat put on a competitive performance and earned a home victory in their match against Two Eagle River Eagles last week.

On Friday evening Hot Springs was forced to go all fives sets before securing the victory but, the Lady Savage Heat proved up to the task taking home the win in the District-10 C matchup.

The opening sets of the match were tough frames for both squads.

Hot Springs was able to take the opening set by a score of 26-24, but the Eagles answered back and took the second set of the match by a score of 28-26.

The third sent went in favor of the home team as the Lady Savage Heat took the win by a score of 25-19.

This set up Hot Springs to put away Two Eagle River in the fourth set but the visiting team rallied to take the fourth set and force a fifth set. Two Eagle River won the fourth set by a score of 25-20.

Characteristic of the entire match, the fifth and decisive set of the night was an extremely competitive affair.

In the end Hot Springs proved resilient earning a 15-11 victory to secure the set and the match.

The victory moves Hot Springs to 2-6 on the fall season.

Senior Amanda Locker sparked the Savage Heat offense earning 10 kills during the match.

Offensive contributions also came from senior Josey Carr who was effective from the service line earning five aces.

Carr also contributed 30 assists to the team’s effort.

As a team Hot Springs combined for 38 kills, three blocks, 60 digs, 36 assists and 20 aces.

The Lady Savage Heat’s next match will be an inner county game with the Noxon Lady Red Devils.

The two teams will meet on Saturday, Oct. 11 at Hot Springs High School.

The match is scheduled for 6 p.m.
