Our beloved Dad went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 4, 2014, at the age of 95.

Born Jan. 8, 1919, in Coeur d'Alene to Clyde Durdy and Viola James Durdy. Dad lived his entire life in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. He attended Coeur d'Alene High school and was quite an athlete - lettering in football, basketball and track. He graduated in 1936 and went on to attend University of Idaho.

Dad went into the Army in March 1942 and spent two years in Europe during World War II. He was honorably discharged in December 1945, and began his career in the lumber business in 1946. After spending many years in the woods running logging crews and at Atlas Tie Mill, Dad retired as Vice President of Idaho Forest Industries in 1987.

In 1948 Dad met the love of his life, Fern Pray, and they were happily married for 62 years until her passing in 2011. They had three children: a son, Bruce, and two daughters, Donna and Judi.

Jack was a member of Coeur d'Alene Bible Church for many years and served as financial manager for 13 of those years. He was a blessing to his many friends and family.

Jack loved a good game of golf and was a founding member of the Coeur d'Alene Public Golf Course. He hit two holes-in-one on the same hole, 17 years apart. Dad was very competitive, always loving to make quarter bets with his friends whether it was a card game, ball game or golf game.

Jack was preceded in death by his wife, Fern, and brother, Don Durdy of Seattle. He is survived by his children Bruce Durdy (Cindy) of Boise, Donna Melendez (Israel) of Coeur d'Alene, and Judi Corlett of Boise; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Dad was like a father to his first-born granddaughter. He was my friend, my mentor, my adviser and a rock steady influence in my life. He has given so much to his family. He gave me a deep love of the woods. The songs he sang will forever play in my memory. RIP my dear Dad. You are loved and missed more than words can say. Until we meet again ...

We would like to express our gratitude to his special caregivers Star Shewey, Carmen Jeffrey and his loving granddaughter, Heidi Wilmer.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, at Coeur d'Alene Bible Church, 5350 N. Fourth St., Coeur d'Alene. English Funeral Chapel has been entrusted to handle final arrangements. Please visit Jack's online memorial at www.englishfuneralchapel.com.
