COLUMBIA FALLS — Columbia Falls swept the regular-season series in girls soccer with Whitefish on Saturday by downing the Bulldogs 3-2.

Columbia Falls (7-1-4 overall, 6-0-2) also claimed the regular-season Northern A championship for the third time in the last four years.

Whitefish won it last year.

Ellie Johnson was involved in all the scoring for the Wildkats. She tied the match at 1-1 with her goal at 27 minutes. She tied it again at 2-all with a goal in the 71st minute.

Then in stoppage time, she assisted Katie Price on the game-winner.

Columbia Falls beat Whitefish 1-0 back on Sept. 7th.

“The whole team played great,” Columbia Falls coach Greg Trenerry said.

“I give our girls credit for not giving up. They could have been satisfied with a tie. It was a hard-fought game.”

The two goals by Whitefish were the most Columbia Falls has allowed in a conference match this fall. The Wildkats allowed just three all season in Northern A.

Columbia Falls will host a Class A playoff match on Saturday. Whitefish (5-5-2, 4-3-1)finished third in the league and will play at Hamilton on Saturday.
