This week's items are all wet. Three new beverage places are on tap (ha, ha).

Opening first will be The Cork & Tap at 2034 Main St. in Riverstone this Saturday. This will include an area to purchase fine wine, craft beer and accessories and a tasting room to sample the options by the glass.

Owners Mike Dimico and Trisha Maddy have connected with Mike's family in Italy and plan to bring that hospitality to their store. His family homesteaded in Harrison, and Trisha came to North Idaho as a wilderness guide from West Virginia.

Hours will be 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and until 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. Wine tastings will be 5-8 p.m. Fridays and noon to 8 p.m. Saturdays.

Summit Cider on Schreiber Way

Three dry and off-dry ciders made from fresh-pressed Pacific Northwest apples and seasonal off-dry ciders from pears and apples will be available at Summit Cider. The tasting room is under construction at Unit 201 at 3884 N. Schreiber Way (adjacent to Coeur d'Alene Cellars Winery).

"All our ciders have less than 25 percent of the sugar found in most ciders and are all natural and gluten-free," said Davon Sjostrom, owner with Jason Fletcher. A graduate in plant science from the University of Idaho, Sjostrom started making cider five years ago when he became gluten-free. Fletcher graduated from Sonoma State University in environmental science and has been an Idaho resident for 16 years and a cider maker for two.

The tasting room will be open 3-9 p.m. Thursdays through Saturdays, and kegs and growler fills will be available to local businesses. Check Facebook.com/summitcider, and the www.summitcider.com website will be available soon.

Daft Badger Brewery on Second Street

Custom-made beers, lunches and dinners will be offered at Daft Badger Brewery now under construction at 1710 N. Second St.

Opening in December, owners Darrell Dlouhy, son-in-law Jake Capaul and Keith Bertram purchased a 10-barrel custom-made brew system that will make 20 barrels (315 gallons) of beer in one brew.

The 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday menu will include smoked meats and cheeses, house-made sausages, "adventurous" salads and side dishes and Northwest-style beers. The brewery will seat about 40 and have a covered pergola. The decor will include used brick and timbers (via Nat Bush) and custom-made tables (from Bertram).

The location is two blocks west of Bistro on Spruce and three west of Slate Creek Brewing.

Now for the Tidbits

- Watch for details on Cracker Barrel Restaurant (yes, it's evidently coming in 2015) and the 15-story structure to be at First and Lakeside.

- Also in the near future are Massage Envy in Ironwood Square, Chomper Cafe in Stoddard Park on Prairie Avenue, a new Pinkerton Retirement building on the Riverstone Pond, Chamira and Climbworks in the Resort Plaza Shoppes, Animal Medical Center on Fourth Street, Cd'A Nail & Salon in Crossroads and McAllister Technical Services at 11th and Sherman.

- Political signs are suddenly everywhere. The ones on public property probably are illegal. The ones in front of businesses may deter potential customers who disagree with the choices ... or they may attract those who agree. Seems kind of risky for auto dealers.

- It was time to present the present while everyone was present.

- Label instruction on a shampoo: "Use repeatedly for severe damage."
