Bigfork artist Nancy Dunlop Cawdrey recently set a record in Jackson Hole, Wyo., for the sale of her “Forever Jackson” painting as the Featured Artist of the 30th Jackson Hole Falls Art Festival.
Cawdrey’s 86-inch by 60-inch painting sold for $50,000 dollars to a Whitefish couple who will hang it in their home. The lively bidding was among several collectors, including one phone bidder from Texas. The winning price for Cawdrey’s piece set a new record for this annual auction.
Cawdrey is a member of the Russell Skull Society of Artists, a select group of members representing the best of contemporary American Western art. The Museum will host “Continuing the Legacy: The Russell Skull Society of Artists” Oct. 17 through Jan. 17 in Great Falls. One of Cawdrey’s paintings was loaned by a collector for the exhibit.
Cawdrey also has a painting in the the Booth Western Art Museum in Cartersville, Georgia, from Sept. 27 through Jan. 25, 2015.
The Booth Museum has invited Cawdrey to participate in a panel called “Artful Working Relationships” where she and her business partner, Steve Cawdrey, will discuss the value of someone handing all the business side for an artist.
