SUPERIOR – The Noxon Red Devils football team traveled to Mineral County for a matchup against the Superior Bobcats last week.
In the high scoring Western C 8-man game, Superior was able to win the contest over Noxon by a score of 52-22.
Both offenses scored early and at half time Superior found themselves with a 38-14 lead.
Noxon’s two first half touchdown’s came courtesy of senior running back Gary Wadman who took the ball in on a 60-yard touchdown rumble to give the Red Devils their first points on the night.
Noxon followed up Wadman’s score with another touchdown drive.
As was the case with the team’s first touchdown drive, Wadman capped off the team’s second score as well, hauling in a 12-yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback Jacob Mitchell.
The final points on the night for Noxon came on a touchdown run from Mitchell himself, who hammered home a nine yard touchdown scamper for the only points either team put on the board in the fourth quarter of play.
The win gave Superior their first win of the fall season.
Up next for the Red Devils will be a Friday night matchup against Seeley Swan under the lights at home.
Next week’s game is scheduled to kick off at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17.
Noxon will play its final game of the season the following week on the road.
The Red Devils regular season will wind down against Victor on Sat, Oct. 15, in an afternoon matchup.
