STEWART: He's one of us, citizens

I have known David Stewart for 15 years. He and his wife and two sons have been personal friends and a second family to my own children. David is running for Converse County Commissioner and I wholeheartedly support him. For those of you who don’t know David, I would like to give some insight into a man I personally know and trust.

Over the years, I have witnessed David in all kinds of situations. I have seen him succeed, and I have witnessed him under extreme duress, having to navigate excruciatingly painful situations. He has shown tenacity, wisdom and grace in both triumph and defeat. When asked by myself what he knew about the ULUC being pushed by the current County Commissioners, he looked into it, found he could not support it, and got involved in a big way to protect private property rights for all Kootenai County land owners. He is a property owner himself, as well as a small business owner so he has “skin in the game.” Unlike others who may or may not have anything to lose by the laws, rules and codes they write, David is one of us and cares about the future he will leave to his children. David never does anything half way. He always does his research and will search out a fair, workable answer to the questions we face. In his personal life, I know him to be an intelligent, diligent man; an involved father and faithful husband.
