NIC WOMEN'S SOCCER: Cardinals get past Yaks

YAKIMA, Wash. - Taylor Peterson scored on an assist from Sydney Sol in the 18th minute to lift the North Idaho Cardinal women's soccer team past the Yakima Valley Yaks 2-1 in a Northwest Athletic Conference match.
Jaimee Hulst opened the scoring on an unassisted goal in the fourth minute for NIC (7-2-7, 6-2-6 24 points), which hosts Columbia Basin on Saturday.
"While we didn't score in the second half, we played well and created many scoring chances," NIC coach Dan Hogan said. "We just need to put more of them in the net."
Yakima Valley is 5-9-1, 4-8-1, 13 points.
