OTHELLO - Adams County deputies and the Othello Police Department recently arrested a man who reportedly barricaded himself inside a house and refused to come out.
Deputies responded to an assistance call in the 800 block of South Grace Lane in Othello. Deputies were dispatched to assist Othello officers with a possible kidnapping situation, according to the sheriff's office.
Deputies had received information that a fight started and was still in progress at the same address on Grace Lane.
When deputies arrived, they learned that Andres Garza, 26, of Othello, was involved in the original dispute.
Garza was also a suspect in an assault which occurred on Grace Lane before police were dispatched.
When officers arrived, Garza had barricaded himself inside the residence and would not come out for law enforcement.
During that time, Garza threatened to shoot one of the people who had originally called the police.
Garza communicated with police for more than an hour through the window. The Columbia Basin Tactical Response Team was notified and responded to the scene.
Shortly after the CBTRT was notified, Garza willingly came out of the residence and surrendered to police without further incident.
Garza was booked into the Adams County Jail on suspicion of violating a no-contact order with assault and harassment by making death threats.
