Big Bend swept by Spokane

SPOKANE - In its first match-up against Spokane, Big Bend was swept but pushed the Sasquatch to an historic third set that was scored 37-35.

Wednesday on the road, Big Bend had a tougher time staying competitive with Spokane and was swept 14-25, 14-25, 12-25

With the loss, Big Bend (4-4, 14-11) remains fourth in the NWAC East region in a tie with Wenatchee Valley.

The Vikings had a difficult time attacking the Sasquatch, recording a hitting percentage of .015. Significantly down from the .179 Big Bend hit in its home match against Spokane.

Outside hitter Shania Bateman had a team-high 8 kills. She also added 7 digs.

Whitney Southam was the only other Viking with more than 1 kill, finishing with 5.

McKenzi Lott led Big Bend with 11 assists.

Siera English and Jenna Widman led the Spokane attack, finishing with 9 kills each.

Big Bend will return to Spokane Friday for the Dig Pink Crossover. The Vikings begin tournament play against Tacoma at 1 p.m.

NWAC East region play resumes Oct. 22 when Big Bend hosts Walla Walla.
