Peggy Lewis McCarty, 74

Peggy Lewis McCarty, 74, of Portland, Ore., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014, after a brave battle with ovarian cancer.

Peggy was born and raised in Pageland, S.C., and graduated from Columbia College in Columbia, S.C., and the University of Oregon, Bend. She was an elementary and special education teacher, and enjoyed tutoring and helping children.

Peggy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Greg and Jill McCarty of Tualatin, Ore., and daughter Jennifer McCarty of Seattle, Wash.; grandchildren Cade, Quinn, Max, Marcus and Carigan McCarty; and her brother, Bill Gulledge of Bridgeville, Del.

A celebration of life for Peggy will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9, 2014, by the lake at the Fort Sherman Chapel, 332 Hubbard St., Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
