Heather Carbon breaks MLHS diving record
Heather Carbon continued her stellar performance on the diving board this season by breaking the Moses Lake school record for points.
At an 11 Dive Meet over the weekend she tallied 454 points and qualified for state.
Last year, Carbon advanced to finals and took 15th place for diving at the state meet.
Moses Lake girls swim hosts first place Wenatchee on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
Boys swimming
Local unattached swimmer Eric Kemper took first place in four of seven events in Spokane over the weekend.
Kemper won the 100 fly, 50 fly, 100 backstroke and the 100 freestyle. He took second in the 200 individual medley, 500 freestyle and 100 breaststroke.
Kemper's time of 28.79 seconds in the 50 fly was good enough to qualify him for regionals.
Volleyball
Big Bend volleyball split four matches at the Spokane Dig Pink Crossover.
The Vikings began the tournament with a win over Tacoma in five sets 13-25, 21-25, 25-21, 25-19, 15-12. Big Bend was swept by Clackamas in its second match of pool play 7-25, 18-25, 12-25.
Big Bend began bracket play with a win against Skagit Valley 26-24, 22-25, 25-22, 25-16 before being dropped by Clackamas again 23-25, 14-25, 15-25.
The Vikings lost their first match in the loser's bracket against Highline 19-25, 24-26, 25-21, 26-28.
NWAC East play resums for the Vikings Oct. 22, 6 p.m., at home against Walla Walla.
