BILLINGS (AP) — A woman who was reportedly jumping in front of traffic and a man who had stopped to try to help her were struck and killed by a passing car on Montana Highway 463 in southeastern Montana.

Big Horn County Coroner Terry Bullis says 34-year-old Katrina Dust and 60-year-old Larry Morrison, both of Lodge Grass, died in the collision at about 8:30 p.m. Friday west of Lodge Grass.

Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Eric Winburn said that witnesses reported Dust had been jumping in front of traffic and at one point laid down in the roadway. Morrison stopped to check on her and both were in the driving lane when they were struck by a car. The driver of the car wasn’t injured.

The Bureau of Indian Affairs and the FBI are investigating.
