QUINCY - A man from George and woman from Quincy were injured in a two-car accident near Quincy on Monday.

Eustacio Gamez, 74, of George, was driving a GMC pickup truck north on Road 10 Northwest, attempting to cross state Route 28, about three miles west of Quincy.

Bryanna Eikenberry, 19, of Wenatchee, was driving a Mercury Mountaineer east on SR 28, as Gamez was attempting to cross SR 28, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Gamez allegedly failed to yield and was struck by Eikenberry. Both vehicles came to a rest off the road north of SR 28.

Gamez was injured and airlifted to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane. Gamez's passenger, Contreras Hernandez, 52, of Quincy, was also injured and taken to Quincy Valley Medical Center.

Neither Eikenberry or her passenger Ivan Munoz, 26, of Wenatchee were injured. Both vehicles were totaled and impounded.

The official cause of the accident was failure to yield, according to the patrol.

Gamez was cited for second-degree negligent driving, driving without a valid operator's license and driving with no insurance.
