Skateboarder hit, killed by car near Poplar identified

BILLINGS — Authorities have released the name of a 20-year-old woman who was hit and killed by a car as she rode a skateboard on U.S. Highway 2 west of Poplar.

Roosevelt County Sheriff Jason Frederick says Jamie Sweet suffered head injuries when she was hit by a car that was passing another vehicle Oct. 13. She was not wearing a helmet.

The 35-year-old woman driving the car stopped, called 911 and attempted CPR. Sweet was pronounced dead at the hospital.
