SANDPOINT — The state competition for Distinguished Young Women might be right around the corner, but local contestant Breylan Martin isn’t sweating it.

More than anything, she plans on having a great time and learning as much as she can during the talent competition and scholarship program, which occurs from Nov. 6-8 will draw almost 50 Idaho girls to Coeur d’Alene. Having been tested at the local level earlier this year, Breylan said she feels confident but not overly focused about her chances at the state level.

“I try not to think of myself compared to others,” she said. “I just want to go down there and have a good experience and be the best I can be.”
