POST FALLS - Post Falls has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report for the fiscal year 2013.

It is the 16th consecutive year the city has been honored with the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting.

The city also received the GFOA excellence award for its annual financial report for citizens, a condensed, user-friendly guide to the city's financial statements presented in the CAFR.

"Receiving these two awards is a testimony to the city's commitment to fiscal responsibility, accurate financial reporting and transparency," said Finance Director Jason Faulkner. "The CAFR communicates the city's financial story in depth, and the (guide) is designed to communicate the city's financial story for the general public who may not have a financial background."

The GFOA awards are given for a "spirit of full disclosure" to communicate the city's financial story to citizens.
