Cops called for landlord, renter dispute

The Columbia Falls Police Department was called to mediate a dispute between a landlord and renter on Fourth Avenue West. The landlord claimed the renter had broken into her garage. The two were advised it was a civil matter, which raised the ire of the landlord, who claimed the police were wasting her time.
A caller stated her grandmother was in a parking lot when a car backed into her quite violently. She was flung backward and was complaining of hip and leg pain.
A man in town claimed he had a gun and was going to kill himself. The man was reached, and had spent the day hunting. Dispatch said he “sounded in good spirits” and he was getting help from a mental health facility.
A 12th Street West man had a problem with the post office leaving medication in his mailbox, which was then stolen by high school students. Someone had pried his mailbox open to get inside.
A man released from detention today was allegedly making death threats against his daughter-in-law. She requested an extra patrol to help keep her safe. But when officers contacted the woman, she admitted the man in question had not contacted her since he went to jail.
The Whitefish Police Department took a call from a building owner on Columbia Avenue reporting a possible burglary. He noticed the rear door was unlocked and the attic ladder had been let down. Officers found no sign of forced entry or damage to the building.
A man was arrested after urinating in public near a park full of kids near East Fourth Street. The caller was a motorist who saw the man as they were driving by. Witnesses at the park said the man left, but another man identified the perpetrator.
A drunken woman on Central Avenue ripped the license plate off a vehicle in front of a bar. She departed northbound, maybe to cause more drunken property damage, and the plate was given to the owner.
