SANDPOINT — A Washington state man accused of causing a deadly traffic accident on U.S. Highway 2 made an initial court appearance on Friday.
Magistrate Court Judge Gaylen Box appointed a public defender to represent Christopher Dale Jewsbury, who said in court documents that he is disabled and has been unable to work since the March 14 crash east of Oldtown.
A pretrial conference and jury trial are pending, although dates for those proceedings are pending. Box entered a not guilty plea on Jewsbury’s behalf, a standard protocol in magistrate court arraignment hearings.
Jewsbury, 50, of Spokane, is charged with vehicular manslaughter at the misdemeanor level. He is accused of accidentally killing Amy Lynn Brady, a disabled veteran with two children.
