NIC ROUNDUP: Cardinal men clinch East Division title

COEUR d'ALENE - Adam Talley scored on a counterattack on Saturday at Eisenwinter Field, helping North Idaho College win 1-0 over Wenatchee Valley College, to clinch the East Division title in Northwest Athletic Conference play.
"It feels really good," NIC coach Ken Thompson said. "The guys are excited. We've reached a point this season where it feels good and it allows us to enter the playoffs the way we want to go. The guys played hard, we wouldn't be surprised if we played them again in the playoffs."
On Saturday, NIC (12-1-1, 14-1-2) hosts Community Colleges of Spokane in an NWAC game.
Wenatchee Valley is 10-3-3, 9-3-2.
NIC earned a first-round bye in the NWAC playoffs and on Nov. 8 at Eisenwinter Field, it will host a quarterfinal game.

COEUR d'ALENE - Cassy van der May and Madi Williams had two saves each for the Cardinals, which beat the Knights in a Northwest Athletic Conference East Division match at Eisenwinter Field.
With the win, NIC (9-2-8, 8-2-7 NWAC) clinches a spot in the conference playoffs and will play an opening round match on Nov. 5 against a team to be determined.
"We didn't have a lot of energy in the first half, but still created a few good chances on goal," NIC coach Dan Hogan said. "In the second half, we picked up the pace of our play finding more through passes."
NIC hosts the Community Colleges of Spokane next Saturday at noon to conclude the regular season.
Wenatchee Valley is 1-14-3, 1-12-3.

COEUR d'ALENE - Dzeni Hadzisehovic had 19 kills for the Cardinals in a 25-21, 17-25, 25-23, 25-21 Scenic West Athletic Conference win over the 10th ranked Badgers at Christianson Gym.
Entering the final weekend of conference play, NIC is fourth with a record of 10-9, 4-5, a half-game behind Snow (17-6, 4-4) for third place.
Snow hosts Utah State-Eastern on Thursday and Colorado Northwestern on Saturday. NIC is at Southern Idaho to conclude the regular season.
Brittany Aldridge had 13 kills and six digs, Kennedy Chadwick 33 digs, Maddi Seidl 48 assists for NIC.
Brooke Lamb had 19 kills for Snow.
