SANDPOINT — A Spirit Lake man who had sexual contact with three teens in three counties was sentenced Friday to up to 20 years in prison.

Joseph Blaine Herbst, 40, will have to serve at least 10 years of the sentence before he can be considered for parole, according to the terms of the sentenced imposed by 1st District Judge Barbara Buchanan.

A Boundary County jury convicted Herbst last year of two counts of lewd conduct for having sex with a 14-year-old girl. His defense counsel moved for a new trial, which delayed his sentencing in the case.
