Plains Trotters host senior night against Bigfork

PLAINS – The Plains Trotters volleyball team honored the squad’s two seniors before the team’s match against Bigfork on Thursday night.

Both Rebekah Barnard and Hailey Phillips were recognized during a pre-match ceremony before the start of the evening’s competition.

In the District 7-B match the Bigfork Vals were able to take the first set of the evening, winning the frame by a score of 25-14.

The Trotters regrouped for the second set of the match and gave the Bigfork girls all they could handle.

After falling behind early in the set the Trotters showed grit and determination and fought back to get within three points with the score 18-15 in favor of Bigfork.

Plains would stay with the Vals, getting to within two points of the lead with the score at 23-21.

Bigfork was able to dig deep and earn the final two points of the set to secure a win in the second frame.

The third set was also a back and forth matchup with each team enjoying rallies.

Following the end of the third set Bigfork notched a 25-19 win to give them a victory on the night.

Phillips had a big night for the Trotters, contributing from all over the court with six kills, three blocks and two aces from the serving position.

Barnard made significant contributions to the match as well and earned three digs for the Trotters.

Plains combined for 12 kills, five blocks, 10 digs, 12 assists and five aces on the night.

The Trotters are now 6-10 on the year and will head to district tournament competition in Troy on Saturday, Nov. 1.

Earlier in the week the Trotters faced off against the Hot Springs Lady Savage Heat in an inner-county match at Plains.

The match occured on Tuesday, Oct. 21 and the Trotters triumphed over Hot Springs in three sets.

Plains won the sets by scores of 25-19, 25-13 and 25-19.

Phillips had 13 kills and six aces from the serving line during the match.

Sophomore Hailey Coe contributed six kills and two digs to the Trotters victory. Junior Kimberly Earhart earned 20 assists on the night in the win.

The Trotters combined for 35 kills, two blocks, six digs, 26 assists and 17 aces during last Tuesday’s match against the Lady Savage Heat.
