WARDEN - Warden (8-2, 10-4) gained momentum heading into the upcoming District 5/6 2B Volleyball Tournament and Ephrata High School this weekend with a sweep of Mabton (0-10, 0-14) in its season finale.

After going back and forth with the winless Vikings to start the opening set, the Cougars controlled the match the rest of the way and won in three sets 25-15, 25-9, 25-18.

"It was great for our seniors," head coach Dennis Treat said. "We wanted to finish strong and I thought we played very well in the first couple of sets. We let up a little in set three, but we still finished well I think."

Mabton came out feisty in the first set and pushed Warden to a 9-9 tie before a 6-2 run predicated on serving by Shania Kisler and Leilani Pruneda pushed the Cougars ahead for good.

Kisler recorded 13 digs, 3 aces and 5 kills.

In the second set, Warden opened on a 10-1 run and cruised to a 25-9 win.

Once again, the Cougars opened the third set on a length 7-0 run. However, Mabton rallied to draw within three points before Warden went on to win by seven, 25-18.

The Cougars will not set their sites on Bridgeport, their first district opponent.

"I think we're going to do good," Lexy Pruneda said. "We play third over there and I think we win two we go to state and we would be the first team to appear at state since like a long time ago."

Setter Laurissa Kisler finished with 24 assists; Selena Landeros, Allycia Gonzales and Andrea Contreras had 6 kills each.

Gonzales also added 14 digs.

Moses Lake 3, Davis 0

YAKIMA - Moses Lake volleyball (6-5, 6-7) set up a meeting with Wenatchee in the season finale that will decide third place in the Columbia Basin Big Nine after sweeping Davis (1-11, 1-13) Tuesday.

The Chiefs improved throughout the match and won in three sets 25-21, 25-18, 25-10.

"Did some really, really good things," head coach Michael DeHoog said. "Our serve receive was really solid. The offense really picked up in Game 3. Some things that we've been working on have finally come to fruition."

Greta Hammer led the Chiefs with 9 kills. Ashley Sampson had 6 kills and Maddie Tudor had 5 kills, respectively.

Setter Kylee McKay notched 29 assists and 2 aces.

Girls soccer

Warden 2, Royal 1

ROYAL - Warden girls soccer (2-0, 10-5-1) scored a win in its season finale against Royal 2-1 in a shootout.

Jennifer Mendoza scored the lone goal for Warden in regulation. The Cougars took the shootout 3-2.

Warden will host Brewster in the first round of the District 5/6/7 1B/2B Girls Soccer Tournament Nov. 1 at 1 p.m.
