Dano has owned up to mistakes

I have been especially interested in the county prosecutor's race for the past couple of months. Initially I wasn't sure who I would vote for. Recent events have finally persuaded me to vote for Garth Dano.

For a relatively inexperienced lawyer, Angus Lee has done a decent job as prosecutor. He also has an excellent military record. But there are two reasons why I have finally voted for Garth Dano.

The first has to do with Mr. Dano's greater experience.

As Ken Jorgensen pointed out in his excellent letter of October 23rd, Angus Lee's record of three years in district and superior courts are decent, but does not compare with Mr. Dano's overall legal experience of 33 years.

My second reason has to do with Mr. Lee's negative ads. My first thought was, my goodness, Mr. Dano has a lousy driving record. But when I see and hear that same ad over and over, my second thought is, Enough already! Maybe Mr. Dano should take a refresher driving course, but that doesn't disqualify him from being a good potential prosecutor.

We have heard from Mr. Dano's two illegitimate children. Obviously Mr. Dano has done the honorable thing to the extent of paying child support and also sending them through college.

My conclusion is that Mr. Dano has made some personal mistakes but has owned up to them in every instance. That, to me, is the mark of a decent and honorable man. Plus, Mr. Dano has not stooped, as Mr. Lee has, to engaging in ads of character assassination. For the foregoing reasons, my vote has gone to Garth Dano.
