Freddie "Fred" Gravelle died peacefully with his family by his side on Oct. 14, 2014, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, at the age of 70.

Fred was born on March 29, 1944, in Spokane Wash. to Fredlin Gravelle and Edna Anderson Gravelle. He graduated from Post Falls High School, continuing on to graduate from Spokane Community College with a business degree. Fred retired after loyally serving 29 years at Panhandle Public Employees Federal Credit Union as the CEO.

Fred married Rojean in 1979 in Cocolalla, Idaho, where they planted roots and nurtured a family. The Gravelles' house was a well-known spot for family, neighbors and furry friends to drop in and enjoy the toasty fire in the garage, behind the tunes of country music and laughter. On any given day Fred and Rojean might be out with the kids riding motorcycles, snowmobiles, or out in the boat fishing.

Little do many people know that Fred was in band called the Cocolalla Kooks.

Fred never faltered when a toy needed fixing or someone needed a hand. He was an outstanding father and husband. He enjoyed picking huckleberries and being out in the mountains. Fred loved to get firewood with his neighbors and friends. He was a generous man and always willing to share.

Fred was passionate about his woodworking and creating an array of items - birdhouses especially. He loved to go to the river with his sons, and found it to be a home away from home.

Fred was an avid collector of many things, including friends. He was dedicated to his family and brought happiness and joy to the people in his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edna and Fredlin; son Lance Roy; and grandson, Tyus Gustafson. He is survived by his wife, Rojean; children Rob Gravelle, Jeff Gravelle, David Gravelle and Lona Lindstrom; brother Cary Poston; sister Valeria Scates; and grandchildren: Ashley, Katie, Cami, Greg, Amanda, Brayden, Leana and Lacey.

There will be a private family memorial for Fred.

Arrangements are being handled by English Funeral Chapel. Please visit Fred's online memorial at www.englishfuneralchapel.com.
