Raising funds, Gatsby-style

COEUR d'ALENE - Coeur d'Alene Summer Theatre and Sunrise Rotary are joining forces to bring an interactive "Great Gatsby"-themed fundraiser to The Coeur d'Alene Resort at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 7.

In addition to a three-course meal, guests will have opportunities to partake in activities such as Charleston dance lessons, live and silent auctions, events in the Speakeasy Game Room and a "jail" where participants can bail their friends out or have them "arrested" depending on their abilities to follow Prohibition-era laws. The evening will also include live jazz piano music and a roaming saxophone player.

Auction items include dinner with Patty Duke, a pig roast for 200 people, lunch with Mayor Steve Widmyer, Gonzaga men's basketball tickets, a walk-on part during CST's 2015 season and many more.

Proceeds will go to support the efforts of Sunrise Rotary's scholarship and local philanthropic programs as well as CST's scholarships, educational and overall endeavors.
