'Speed bumps' in Marion make for a rocky road

A Marion woman reported her neighbor to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office on Thursday because he had put large rocks in the roadway along with a sign that said “Speed bumps.”

A woman reported an Internet fraud through a website that asked her to cash checks and return the money online.

A vehicle was broken into on Whitefish Stage Road in Kalispell on Thursday morning and the caller reported that the ashtray had been taken out of the vehicle.

A Whitefish man reported that his air compressor was stolen back in July and he had just located it at a local pawn shop.

A fraud complaint was taken from a Kalispell man who said that he was to have his wages garnished to pay off a hospital bill, however he said he called the collection agency and a different company with no affiliation to the hospital has been garnishing his checks.

A woman reported that her son was punched by another student while riding the bus home from school Thursday afternoon.

Three goats were spotted on the side of the road munching on some grass on U.S. 93 South near Whitefish on Thursday afternoon, and the caller was worried they would get hit by a car.

A Kalispell man reported that his hunting rifle was stolen from his vehicle while parked at a U.S. 2 East business Thursday. He checked with the store manager, who was able to locate a suspect on security camera footage.

Police received a strange call from a Marion man Thursday night. He reported that two or three masked men were outside his house, looking in his windows. When officers arrived at his residence, no one was around and the man maintained that they were outside sitting in a nearby vehicle. No one was there. Two hours later, the same man called back to say that he had seven people inside his house and he was talking with them. He requested an officer come and “observe them to make sure they were not criminals.” The man was advised to talk to a family member and seek medical treatment.


Whitefish Police were called after someone got a scare walking through the park near Baker Avenue on Thursday evening. Apparently, a masked man was hiding in the shadows of the bridge, and when the caller walked by, he stepped out, said “Hi,” and disappeared back into the shadows.


A city employee found a gun in a storm drain near the intersection of Ninth Avenue West and Seventh Street West on Thursday, according to Kalispell Police.

A woman reported that she was harassed by another woman on East Idaho Street while she was parked handing out ice cream treats to her children. The woman screamed at her because she was parked in the alley.

A woman was arrested for fraud at a First Avenue West casino Thursday evening. The woman was using a dead man’s checks.

Three teenagers were reported for possibly smoking pot in a Grandview Drive parking lot Thursday.

A man was creeping out some employees at a U.S. 2 West business when he sat in his parked vehicle for over an hour on Thursday. The man was waiting for a ride.

An assistant manager at a North Main Street business requested that an officer walk through the store early Friday morning because several customers were inside who were “known drug users and sellers.”

A nativity set was reported stolen from a hearse on Hawthorn Avenue.

Two tablets and a Galaxy Note 3 were stolen from a Third Avenue East North vehicle sometime Thursday night.
