Post Falls (5-4) at Eagle (8-1): The Mustangs were undefeated until lost 37-20 at home to Mountain View of Meridian last week in the regular season finale, which made Mountain View the No. 1 seed from the West B pod, and Eagle the No. 2. ... Eagle lost to Rocky Mountain of Meridian in the first round last year. ... The Mustangs are 3-0 against teams in this year's playoffs, beating Capital (24-23), Rocky Mountain (65-35) and Meridian (42-0). ... Post Falls is in the playoffs for the first time since 2004, when the Trojans were in 4A. ... Tonight's winner travels to Highland (9-0) of Pocatello next week in the quarterfinals.

Coeur d'Alene, the defending state champion, dropped its final two games in 5A Inland Empire League play and finished third, but earned the wild-card berth by having the best record against Idaho 5A teams, and against teams in the highest classification in other states, of the teams statewide that were eligible for the wild card. ... Payette (2-6) at Timberlake (7-1): Payette is the fourth seed from the Snake River Valley Conference. Timberlake won the Intermountain League for the sixth straight year, the eighth time in nine seasons, and the ninth time in 11 years. The winner will play the Fruitland-Kimberly winner next week. ... If Timberlake keeps winning, the Tigers will continue to play at home until the title game.
St. Maries (5-3) at New Plymouth (7-1): The Lumberjacks are in the state 2A playoffs for the third straight year, looking for their first win in that span ... New Plymouth, the top seed from District 3, lost to Orofino in the first round last year.
Idle this week
Lake City (8-1) will play host to the winner of tonight's game pitting Skyline (5-4) of Idaho Falls at Capital (7-2) of Boise next week.
The Timberwolves don't have a game tonight, but that doesn't mean they won't be busy. Eight captains will select teams, and the players will go trick-or-treating tonight from 6 to 8 p.m., collecting canned goods for the Community Action Partnership Food Bank. There will be a competition between the teams for the most food collected.
Lakeland (7-2) will play host to the winner of tonight's game between Rigby (4-4) and Kuna (6-3) next week in the 4A quarterfinals.
