Sting eliminated from state soccer playoffs

John Heglie Special to the Leader [email protected] | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 11 years, 1 month AGO

At Bozeman this past Friday in a consolation round game of the MCAA State soccer tournament, the MVCA Sting battled valiantly against the Heritage  Christian School Hawks of Bozeman, but were eliminated from postseason contention by the score of 8-4.  The HCS Hawks scored first in the early going, but MVCA was able to respond by netting the equalizer when Jake Windauer took a feed from Nick Windauer to knot the score at 1 apiece.

Thereafter, the Hawks rattled off five unanswered goals to take a commanding lead into intermission.

Mission Valley was able to regroup in the second half and succeeded in outscoring the Hawks by a margin of 3 to 2.  Sting head coach Randy Adcock noted that “just like we have seen with these young men all season, they showed up for the second half and left it all on the field.”

At Bozeman this past Thursday in a 1st round game of the MCAA State soccer tournament, the 2nd-seeded Mission Valley Christian Academy Sting encountered a familiar opponent in the 3rd-seeded Great Falls Home School Bulldogs, both teams playing to a 4-4 draw in their first encounter earlier in the season.  But in this postseason rematch, it would be the bite of the GFHS dawgs which would prevail over the Sting of MVCA by the score of 3-0 in a hard fought affair.

At Simms, the visiting Vikings (3W) found themselves at the base of a 26-0 halftime chasm against the host Tigers (2N), but were able to stem the bleeding by applying some strategic triage coupled with a scoring onslaught of their own making.
