Tales from 'round the globe

COEUR d'ALENE - A pair of Novel Destinations programs during November will take audiences at the Coeur d'Alene Public Library from sailing off islands near Panama to a pedestrian's view of Athens, Greece.

Novel Destinations, sponsored by the Coeur d'Alene Public Library Foundation, are travelogues based on trips taken by area residents who share their photos and stories.

Beginning at 7 p.m. Nov. 7, Capt. David and Rebecca Kilmer will share "The San Blas Islands" on the big screen in the Community Room.

The pristine islands are on the Caribbean side of Panama, and are home to the unique and indigenous Kuna Yala people. To get there, the Kilmers sailed their 36-foot boat, Liberte, south via the west coast of the U.S., Mexico and Central America and through the Panama Canal.

"Walking Athens" will be presented at the library at 7 p.m. Nov. 14 by Jeff and Susan Crowe. Their photos and stories provide a guide to the classic sites of Athens and the surrounding area on foot and using public transportation.

These after-hours library programs are free, but donations are welcome.
