The annual Eagle Bend Ladies’ Golf Association Championship teed off on last Tuesday with 32 participants in a modified Match Play format.  

The weather was beautiful for this day of golf as two players in each foursome paired off to battle for 9 holes, and then switched opponents on 10th hole for another nine.  

Wednesday morning the weather had turned foul, delaying the start of the second day of play by about 20 minutes.  

The day’s pairings played through soggy fairways and a brief shower or two with a battle brewing in the Championship flight between Kathy Simmons and Marsha Reimers for Overall Gross Champion. At the end of two days and 36 holes of golf, Simmons and Reimers were tied, leading to a sudden-death play-off on hole number one of the Eagle course.   Kathy Simmons prevailed, becoming the 2014 Eagle Bend Ladies Golf Association Low Gross Champion.

 Other winners of the tournament were  Lona Wilson, taking Overall Net Champion; Pam Mitchell took Net Senior Champion;  and Faye Hicks finished as Super Senior Champion.

 First place in the Championship Flight was won by Jeanette Cheney, with Marsha Reimers taking second place.  Kaye Hoffmaster and Linda Johnson won first and second in the Second Flight.  Jan Gordon took first while Kathie Chesnos took second in the Third Flight, and Barb Ramsey and Anita Cole came in first and second in the Fourth Flight.
