Golfers open at Ronan Invite

The Columbia Falls golf team opened its season Aug. 25 in Ronan.

Gabe Love led the Wildcats for the boys, firing an 84 that was good enough for fourth place. Tristan Steinwand shot a 96 to take seventh.

For the girls, Ashley Trueblood hit 121 in her first competitive round ever to take seventh, while Maddy Heinz shot 128 to take ninth.

Columbia Falls had two boys teams, Blue and White, which took fourth and fifth with scores of 425 and 459. The girls took third with a 542.

Libby won the event for the boys, Frenchtown won for the girls. Columbia Falls hosted the tournament.

The Columbia Falls teams travel to Polson on Sept. 4 and are scheduled to host a tournament at the Meadow Lake Resort golf course on Sept. 9.

With continued cold weather, the potential for flooding by area rivers and streams has increased, the National Weather Service warned last week.

Search suspended for missing skiers

The search in Grand Teton National Park for two men with ties in the Flathead has been suspended because of inclement weather. The men are believed to be lost in an avalanche.
