Soccer: Bravettes bounce back, beat Hellgate
The Daily Inter Lake | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 10 years, 4 months AGO
Flathead girls soccer coach Cory Wilson was looking for his team to rebound with a positive outing after last Thursday’s 1-0 loss to rival Glacier.
He was not disappointed.
Jaymee Siler scored an unassisted goal just seven minutes into play and Alexa May added another score, also unassisted, at 35 minutes for a 2-0 Western AA win over Missoula Hellgate at Kidsports Complex.
“Our kids stepped up and got a bounce-back win,” he said.
“It was a good step forward to see what kind of team we have.”
Flathead outshot Hellgate 18-10 on goal.
Zoe Zander had four keeper saves for the Bravettes (1-1).
“Overall, a good team effort,” Wilson said.
“Both teams play a similar style ... run the ball through the middle. It was a real battle for both squads.
“We set some new goals for today and they achieved almost all of them,” he added.
“We wanted to do a better job of creating opportunities and to score a goal. They played with a lot of passion.”
