QUINCY - A 17-year-old boy from Quincy was taken into custody after a non-injury shooting on Tuesday.

It started when Quincy officers responded to a report of gun shots near Third Avenue Southeast and E Street Northeast, according to Sgt. Paul Snyder, of the Quincy Police Department.

Responding officers were warned that possible suspects in the shooting had since fled from the scene.

After interviewing witnesses, officers determined two males in blue jerseys confronted a 17-year-old boy in a red shirt.

In the confrontation, the boy in the red shirt allegedly pulled out a gun and shot it. No injuries were reported.

The shooting is not believed to be gang-related, according to Snyder.

The identity of the two males in the blue jerseys is still unknown.

The 17-year-old boy was arrested and booked into the Grant County Juvenile Center for aiming/discharging a firearm and reckless endangerment.

To report information about the shooting, please contact Detective Jorge Trujillo at 509-787-2222 or 509-787-8477 (TIPS).
