Whitefish water outages ahead
The Daily Inter Lake | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 11 years, 3 months AGO
People living near the U.S. 93 reconstruction zone west of Whitefish will have scheduled water outages next week as crews switch from old water lines to a newly installed system.
Water outages will occur primarily overnight, between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., and should not impact daily operations. The schedule of outages and the areas affected are:
Tuesday, Sept. 16
- Grouse Mountain Lodge
- Residents south of Grouse Mountain Lodge on Fairway Drive
- Residents on U.S. 93 west of Fairway Drive, including Lion Mountain
Wednesday, Sept. 17
- Ramsey Avenue residents
- Birch Point Drive residents
- Golf Haven Drive residents
- Masters Court residents
Thursday, Sept. 18
- Parkhill Drive residents
- All residents and businesses between Murray Avenue and the Golf Course
- Whitefish Lake Golf Club
Schellinger Construction, general contractor for the highway project, also will have crews working during the day on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday installing water services from Murray to Parkhill Drive. During these days there will be brief water outages to individual homes as service is connected.
Schellinger will notify each affected party prior to the start of work. Outages are anticipated to last approximately an hour for each affected residence.
In addition to overnight and brief individual outages, the water system change-over may require shutting down the main water system from Murray Avenue to the west on Sept. 22. The time of day is not yet set, but that outage is scheduled to take around two hours.
Schellinger will move forward with scheduled water outages next week pending the completion of chlorination and pressure testing, which is currently in progress. If changes to the schedule are made, updates will be posted on www.mdt.mt.gov/pubinvolve/karrow and on the project’s highway readerboards.
Residents are encouraged to prepare for outages by purchasing bottled water or setting aside drinking water. Additionally, filling at least one to two large containers for bathroom and sanitation purposes is recommended.
