SPOKANE - It's a rarity for a high school kicker to be good from 50 yards.

But with the game on the line, Moses Lake senior kicker Rehn Reiley drilled a 49-yard field goal against Lewis and Clark to send both teams to overtime tied 13-13.

"He does a lot of things that are really good," head coach Todd Griffith said. "Having him on our team that definitely gives you an edge and I don't know if anybody else has anyone close to what he's done so far ... He's had three or four clutch things he's done as a kicker in the last two games that I just hope he keeps it up."

Reiley's kick was a new school record.

"I think we've had some good guys, kickers in the past," Griffith said. "I don't think we've had anybody this good ever that I can remember."

In overtime, Lewis and Clark (0-2) advanced the ball to set up a first and goal, however, the Moses Lake (2-0) defense stiffened and only allowed a field goal that put the Tigers ahead 16-13.

On Moses Lake's possession, the Chiefs converted a third and 15 when senior quarterback Easton Castro linked up with senior wide receiver Kevin Cosper. Near the goal line, senior running back Nathan Ball ran in the game-winning touchdown from two yards out and the Chiefs escaped, 19-16.

Ball was the work horse, rushing for 91 yards and two touchdowns.

Although he threw two interceptions, Castro was more proficient through the air and racked up 151 receiving yards.

Cosper and junior wide receiver Isaiah Thomas leaped into the top five of the Big 9's receiving leaders.

Cosper had eight catches for 98 yards while Thomas has seven catches for 53 yards,

"I wasn't particularly worried about our passing game," Griffith said. "I knew it would come. I think it's going to take us a little time to get back and going."

Moses Lake's defense has been the standout so far this year and is currently ranked second to Davis in the Big 9. In two games, the Chiefs have only allowed 33 points.

"I think we played some pretty good offenses to start out with," Griffith said. "So defensively I think that probably first two games we've probably played better than we've played in quite a while defensively ... We've got a long season ahead of us. We've got to stay healthy, but as far as we're going, our front right now - as far as I'm concerned - dominating all the way across."
