Man calls police, gets ticket

A man called Columbia Falls Police after a vehicle had almost hit him when he was riding his bike on Fourth Avenue West. When the driver of the vehicle stopped, the bicyclist went up to the driver and punched him in the face. The bicyclist was cited for assault.

A man called police Tuesday saying that he was in the area doing a survey for Flathead County, and his briefcase had been stolen from a Ninth Street West location. The business the man was at had video of the theft, and the man who stole the briefcase was cited for theft.


The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office was called when a parent who was “visibly intoxicated” attempted to pick a child up from school Tuesday afternoon.

A pregnant woman reported her ex-boyfriend and the father of her unborn child for calling Child Protective Services and making false reports that she was on drugs on Tuesday afternoon.

Criminal mischief was reported on Mission Trail after two windows were smashed out of vehicles sometime Monday night. It was the second time that’s happened at that Kalispell location.

Someone found drug paraphernalia in a green zip-up wallet on the side of Maple Drive in Kalispell and turned it in to police Tuesday morning. There was no identification in the wallet.

Two laptops were reported stolen from a vehicle on Bay Harbor Drive in Bigfork. The theft happened sometime Monday night.

A brown leather Fossil wallet was stolen Monday from a Hungry Horse location on U.S. 2 East that contained an Illinois drivers license, $50, a Montana EBT card and a fishing license. Someone had attempted to use the EBT card.


Whitefish Police were called when a plane was spotted on Wisconsin Avenue picking people up and giving them rides Tuesday afternoon. The woman had also called the Federal Aviation Administration, which later called her back and told her that plane was authorized to give rides there.

A group of transients were reportedly having dog fights on Baker Avenue late Tuesday afternoon. When police spoke to the group, they found out that the group had a few puppies with them who were playing.

A disorderly woman was reported for screaming at a bartender at a Central Avenue business.

Someone reported a man wearing a red hat and a hooded sweatshirt chasing a woman on Baker Avenue early Wednesday morning. Police found that it was just some kids playing around.

A black bear was spotted running east into the woods off of West 10th Street.


Kalispell Police received a report of a stolen pack of cigarettes from North Meridian Road on Tuesday.

A trio of transients — two women and one man — were spotted eating out of a Dumpster on Hutton Ranch Road.

Someone arrived to work at a U.S. 93 South location Wednesday to find that a tire had been slashed on a boat trailer that is parked in the lot for sale.

Police were called from a driver on Wolfpack Way who said that a man in a white vehicle behind her acted like he was going to pull her over, and had a light on the inside of his vehicle. The driver was advised that it was likely a volunteer fireman heading to an accident.

Someone kicked in the door of a vehicle parked on Liberty Street.

Three transients were trespassed after setting up camp near Hutton Ranch Road.

A 34-year-old woman was reported missing Tuesday night after having last been seen by her aunt on Friday night at a bar. The missing woman called police shortly to let them know she had been camping and out of cell phone service.

Someone may have escaped with a DUI early Wednesday when a dark-colored Chevy pickup was seen swerving all over the road on North Main Street. When police caught up with the vehicle, it was parked at a residence, which was dark.

Police were called to a Whitefish Stage residence just before 1 a.m. Wednesday when four people were in the woman’s shed. When the woman turned the lights on, they all ran off in different directions.

A good Samaritan turned in a purse that was found in a yard on Northern Lights Boulevard, and police were able to return it to its rightful owner.

And yet another car was broken into on Tuesday night, this one on Sunset Court. A cell phone charger was stolen.
