Golf: Love's 69 leads Wildcats

WEST GLACIER — Columbia Falls’ Gabe Love shot even-par 69 at Glacier View Golf Course to win the Columbia Falls Invitational golf tournament on Wednesday. The Wildcats varsity squad beat junior varsity teams from Flathead and Glacier at the event.
It was the nicest day in weeks for golfing at the foot of Glacier National Park, with the course conditions laid out perfectly for the tournament.
Love’s even-par round was 10 strokes better than the runner up, teammate Henry Chisholm who shot a 79. Bryce Callender finished in third place for the Wildcats with an 82, L.J. Panasuk was in fifth with an 84 and Tristen Steinwand eighth at 88.
The Wildcats outpaced the Glacier JV, led by Brandon Olsen’s 83 in fourth. Jon Sorensen was sixth with an 85 for the Wolfpack.
Columbia Falls’ JV finished third with Logan Lybbert, seventh at 87, Logan Peck, ninth at 94, and Jacob Hall 10th at 96, all making the top 10.
Glacier’s Gabbi Mammana led the small group of girls golfers at the tournament, shooting 97. Glacier teammate Sophie Binstein tied for eighth at 145.
Columbia Falls golfers rounded out the card, Ashley Trueblood finishing second for the Wildkats with a 98. Shea Lefebvre was third at 103, Kerri Lanners fourth at 108, Kathleen Helpon fifth at 133 and Taylir Fairbank sixth at 134. Jordyn King was seventh with a round of 140 and Hailey Piiola tied for eighth at 145.
