MOSES LAKE - A man from Moses Lake allegedly threw a woman out of a car and led officers on a high speed chase through Moses Lake on Monday.

Jeremy Gilbert, 27, of Moses Lake, was observed as a passenger in 2006 Nissan Maxima when the vehicle stopped.

About 3:40 p.m. Gilbert allegedly forced the vehicle into gear and drove away. Gilbert then pushed a woman out of the vehicle and took off.

It is not clear what the relationship is between Gilbert and the female, but the woman was in the car voluntarily and did own the vehicle, according to Moses Lake Police Department Capt. Dave Sands.

Gilbert led the officer in pursuit onto Peninsula Drive, where speeds reached up to 80 mph.

"At Peninsula Drive, the officer terminated the pursuit because of the school zones. However the suspect's vehicle came back around and was seen heading out onto Peninsula," Sands said. "He was not chased at that point, but officers were put at all roads leading in and out of Peninsula. The officers were not able to locate the suspect, but he was identified."

The incident is under investigation.

Gilbert does have a criminal history, according to Sands.

Earlier in the day, about 2 p.m. on Monday, officers responded to another incident related to Gilbert. Gilbert had left his wallet at the Conoco gas station on Prichard Road, which was later logged into evidence.

When arrested, Gilbert will be cited for second-degree robbery, vehicle theft, fourth-degree assault, felony eluding and reckless driving.
