SOAP LAKE - Soap Lake earned its first win of the year with a five-game nail biter against Liberty Bell 25-27, 25-22, 29-27, 21-25, 16-14.

The Eagles improved to 1-2 with the win.

"The girls never stopped," head coach Christina Harvill said. "They never slowed down. They just pushed through the whole game.

"Never gave up and kept their intensity up through the whole thing."

Nelly Korneychuk - who missed Soap Lake's five-game loss to Bridgeport due to an illness - was reinserted into the lineup and had a banner night for the Eagles.

Korneychuk finished with 13 kills and 3 blocks.

"Nelly had an amazing night at the net," Harvill said.

Esther Coreas was also a key player for the Eagles, closing out each game Soap Lake won against Liberty Bell.

Coreas finished with 20 digs, 5 aces and was 30 for 31 serving.

"Esther really came in huge for us serving tonight," Harvill said. "She finished serving for us in each game that we won."

Jenny Coreas recorded 18 digs while Lanie Babak added 16 assists and 6 digs.
