Dayton Daze thanks you

Classic cars, girls dressed as flappers, and guys sporting driving caps and fedoras surrounded Dayton Park as this year’s Dayton Daze—the annual fundraiser for the Chief Cliff Fire Service area—proved to be even more successful than the last!  The entire community really pulled together in true 1920’s spirit to pull off the daylong costume event which included a car show, silent auction, craft booths, and catered dinner on top of all the usual activities.

We owe a debt of gratitude to all the dedicated members of the community who devoted months to selling tickets, soliciting donations, and otherwise raising money for our firefighters, and a special “thank you” to all of the businesses who so generously donated goods and services to helped bolster our fund for gear and equipment.

The outpouring of support was inspiring, and we look forward with enthusiasm to next year’s event (Sept. 12, 2015) with the theme: Outlaws and Gunslingers.

We promise it will be even bigger and better!

Zoe Lilja

Sec/Treas, Chief Cliff VFD

Words matter

Words matter. Michael Gale’s latest letter to the editor (Sept. 11) uses allegory to make a point he has made many times before – namely, that no one can trust elected officials, particularly those involved in the water compact negotiations. He is entitled to his opinion and has every right to express it, as do others who do not share his negative views.
