Ponderay blooming with new trees

PONDERAY — With new amenities and public parks on the way, city officials are working together to make Ponderay a little greener.

Associates are working to establish a tree program within Ponderay to improve the town’s aesthetic qualities with a new tree program. The city and its new tree committee celebrated Ponderay’s future as a tree-friendly city Wednesday with its first celebration of Arbor Day. According to Stephen Drinkard, a longtime urban forester, Arbor Day is most often celebrated on the final Friday of April but is occasionally observed during other times of the year. Such was the case in Ponderay, which has aims to become a certified Tree City much like Sandpoint.

Sandpoint OKs downtown street changes
