The largest exercise club in the world is opening in Coeur d'Alene in October. Anytime Fitness, named that because it's always open, will operate at 370 Kathleen Ave., the 66,770- square-foot former home of J. Miller Salon, which moved to Riverstone.

The club offers personal and group training programs and activity and diet tracking programs. Starting in 2002, Anytime Fitness has 2,500 outlets throughout the world with membership in one program allowing members entry to all programs. Its headquarters is in Hastings, Minn.

Nichell Sauls will manage about 12 employees in Coeur d'Alene. The club also has an outlet at 900 N. Highway 41 in Post Falls. For Cd'A phone 714-4259. Check www.anytimefitness.com.

The Way Back is farther back

Offering antique, upcycled, repurposed and locally crafted wares and art, The Way Back is expanding into the back half of its building at 213 N. Fourth St. around Oct. 1.

The co-op members run the store and will expand from seven to 14 vendors with the change. More are welcome. Sam Drummond started the store last spring. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Phone 771-0701.

Blossom Montessori starts in January

Offering a preschool classroom for 15 children ages 2 1/2 to 6, Blossom Montessori School will open in January at 1703 N. Third St.

The school will emphasize language, math, geography and life skills and offer teacher evaluations, parent conferences and kindergarten readiness. With 20 years experience of working with children, certified teacher Martha Cunningham will teach phonics and hands-on math preparation and offer home-school consultations and tutoring.

Now for the Tidbits

- Capone's Pub & Grill already is increasing parking at its Hayden outlet and will soon be doing the same in Coeur d'Alene by purchasing the house to the south. Owners Tom and Teresa Capone also will expand the kitchens in Cd'A and Post Falls. They also purchased the former Bojack's Tavern (now closed) across Fourth Street in Cd'A but haven't determined its future.

- The grand opening for the A.J. Balukoff for Governor office will be 4-6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 3, in Suite 200 at 1621 N. Third St. Hours will be 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon Fridays. Phone 664-4288.

- Watch for news on Cd'A Nail and Salon in Crossroads, Animal Medical Center on Fourth Street, Massage Envy in Ironwood Square, McAllister Technical Services on Sherman Avenue, a major change in the northwest corner of Harrison Avenue and Fourth Street, Chamira and Climbworks in the Plaza Shoppes, the Cork & Tap in Riverstone and Summit Cider on Schreiber Way.

- Rumors about Cracker Barrel coming here are just rumors, according to the corporate office. Chipotle Mexican Grill isn't ready for news either.

- When something promotes "first annual," that's what its people are hoping it'll be. It ain't "annual" until it repeats a year after the first one.

- "Some cause happiness wherever they go; others, whenever they go." - Oscar Wilde.

- A real headline: "Teen pregnancy drops after age 25."
