Driver injured in cement truck accident

A fully-loaded cement truck rolled over Tuesday afternoon on Old Reserve Drive near Farm to Market Road, sending one man to the hospital.
Montana Highway Patrolman Eric Thoreson said the driver, estimated to be in his mid-20s, suffered severe injuries and was taken by ambulance to the hospital.
The driver was partially ejected after the truck crossed the center line, going off of the south side of Old Reserve Drive and into the ditch, where the truck rolled three-quarters of a turn and landed on the passenger side.
The driver was hanging halfway out of the vehicle, and passersby assisted him by holding him up as he used his legs to push himself the rest of the way out of the vehicle.
“For the most part, he extricated himself” from the crushed cab, Thoreson said. The driver was initially knocked unconscious, but Thoreson said he was responding to pain and used his legs to push himself out while being assisted by other people on scene.
Traffic was down to one lane after the accident, which occurred at about 12:55 p.m. Tuesday. Both lanes were cleared by 2 p.m.
