EPHRATA - Washington State Patrol detectives will investigate a traffic accident that killed an Ephrata woman and involved a Grant County sheriff's deputy Saturday.

McKenna Fuglie, 22, was driving east on Road 5 NW, about 8 miles south of Ephrata when her car, a 1996 Jeep Cherokee, collided with a 2013 Chevrolet pickup driven by Tyson Voss, 39, Moses Lake, according to information from the WSP. The accident occurred about 10 a.m.

Voss was driving south on Dodson Road, approaching the intersection with Road 5, the WSP report said. The cars collided in the intersection.

Fuglie was pronounced dead at the scene, the report said. Voss was treated at Samaritan Healthcare in Moses Lake and released, according to a press release from Grant County Sheriff Tom Jones.

Both vehicles were totaled.

Jones said it's normal protocol for the WSP to conduct the investigation of an accident involving a sheriff's office vehicle. "We wish to extend our sincerest condolences, as well as prayers for strength, to the families sadly and tragically affected" by the accident, he said.
