The Columbia Falls girls soccer team handily won two conference games last week. The Wildkats hammered Libby 4-0 at home Sept. 18 and then beat Bigfork on the road two days later by the same margin.

Against Libby, Lottie Ellis and Maddy Snyder both had their first varsity goals. Ellis knocked in a shot at the 20-minute mark, and Snyder scored with 37 minutes left to put the game away against the Lady Loggers. Coach Greg Trenerry played all 22 girls against Libby, sometimes subbing six or seven girls at a time.

Lyndsey Strouse had a nice game against Bigfork, scoring twice as the offense has come alive following a slow start this season. Katie Price also scored, and freshman Hannah Gedlaman knocked one in.

“It took us awhile to get going,” Trenerry said after the Libby match. “I was happy with the way we played … The defense did well, which allowed us to get a lot of players in.”

The Kats face a much improved Polson team at home Thursday. Game time is 3:30 p.m. The Kats then go on the road Saturday for a 5 p.m. game against Whitefish.

Columbia Falls is now 3-1-2 overall.
